Mafia III: Definitive Edition includes the base game and all three story expansions: Faster, Baby!, Stones Unturned, and Sign of the Times. It also carries the previously released weapon, vehicle, and outfit packs listed with the Definitive Edition entitlement. The important distinction is between ownership and access: Steam can show the content as included while the story missions still wait for campaign progress and their introductory contacts.

This hub explains when each thread fits, what kind of play it emphasizes, and how to keep expansion progress from becoming confused with a half-finished district. The pilot’s Faster, Baby! walkthrough covers the first expansion’s Sinclair Parish route in practical stages.

Compare the three story expansions

Faster, Baby!

Lincoln joins Roxy Laveau in Sinclair Parish to recover evidence against Sheriff Walter “Slim” Beaumont. Expect aggressive driving, pursuits, stunts, and a compact rural map.

Stones Unturned

John Donovan takes a field role beside Lincoln in a military conspiracy involving Connor Aldridge. The chain leans toward heavy weapons and combat set pieces.

Sign of the Times

Lincoln investigates the Ensanglante cult after meeting Anna McGee. Investigation scenes and horror-inflected interiors lead into restoration work at Sammy's bar.

These expansions tell different stories, but all belong to Lincoln’s 1968 campaign. They are not the remade Mafia: Definitive Edition or a separate Steam AppID. Every page in this section is scoped to Mafia III AppID 360430.

Unlock DLC through the coalition milestone

The expansion markers become available after the early campaign has established Cassandra, Vito, and Burke and completed the first sitdown structure. If a DLC prompt is absent, continue the base story rather than driving to a location described in a walkthrough. Ownership alone cannot bypass the required narrative state.

Check the objective list and map after finishing coalition conversations. Listen to the call or introduction that creates the expansion mission. If the marker remains missing, restart Steam, verify the game files, and confirm you are launching the Definitive Edition entry with AppID 360430.

Do not install a random save simply to reveal a prompt. A foreign save can carry different assignments, difficulty, collectibles, and achievement state, creating more uncertainty than it solves.

Choose a sensible play order

Release order—Faster, Baby!, Stones Unturned, then Sign of the Times—is easy to remember and gradually expands Lincoln’s side stories. It is not a mandatory chronology. All three can be mixed into the middle campaign after their unlock point.

A good first-play rhythm is to finish the current racket or district, make a manual save, and then complete one expansion’s main chain without switching back. Their stories are relatively concentrated, and keeping the active objective inside one thread reduces marker confusion.

Faster, Baby! works well early because its driving mechanics and later side system can provide a change from district rackets. Stones Unturned fits once the player is comfortable with sustained firefights. Sign of the Times has a distinct investigative tone and a post-story bar project that can be returned to over time.

Prepare before leaving New Bordeaux

Bank carried cash, call the arms dealer, and fill armor and ammunition. Some expansion sequences chain pursuits and fights with fewer opportunities to use familiar city services. Keep one controllable vehicle available, but expect the mission to supply a required car when the set piece demands it.

Create a manual save after the currently active base objective updates. Avoid entering a DLC while a district boss conversation or sitdown is waiting to register. The expansion should begin from a clean mission log, not from uncertainty about which autosave owns the latest state.

On Steam Deck, test the base campaign and launcher first. A DLC crash should be diagnosed only after the same settings can load and play New Bordeaux reliably.

Know what Faster, Baby! adds

Sinclair Parish sits outside New Bordeaux and operates under an especially hostile sheriff’s department. The story follows civil-rights activist Charles Laveau, his daughter Roxy, and M.J. Decosta as they try to preserve evidence of Beaumont’s crimes. Driving is central: pursuits, off-road escapes, ramps, and vehicle destruction carry more weight than in a typical racket route.

Completing the main chain provides distinctive rewards associated with Roxy, including the Nightcrawler and the Silenced MK 1020. Follow-up work remains after the central pursuit, including concerned-citizen tasks and M.J.’s herbalism activity. Main-story completion and optional system completion are separate milestones.

Know what Stones Unturned adds

Stones Unturned turns Donovan from mission control into a combat partner. Its conflict with Connor Aldridge expands beyond ordinary Marcano rackets and introduces military equipment and locations. Prepare a versatile loud-combat loadout; stealth remains useful, but the chain contains substantial set-piece pressure.

Treat its rewards as DLC progression, not items every new player owns at the first arms-dealer visit. Finish the relevant mission and confirm the reward in the service menu before building a loadout guide around it.

Know what Sign of the Times adds

Sign of the Times begins as an investigation into the Ensanglante. Search scenes ask the player to inspect evidence rather than simply erase a damage number. Slow down, follow the interface cues, and photograph or interact with each required clue before leaving the area.

After the central cult story, Sammy’s bar restoration creates a money sink and a sequence of follow-up improvements. Budget for it separately from weapons and armor. If your goal is only to finish the expansion narrative, the restoration work should not be mistaken for a blocked finale.

Troubleshoot included content that appears missing

Open the Steam store page or library properties and confirm the exact game identity. Verify installed files, launch online once so entitlements can refresh, and load a save after the first coalition sitdown. Then inspect both the map and objective list.

If one mission chain appears but another does not, finish any active introduction and allow its call or conversation to complete. Avoid old instructions that ask you to purchase a season pass separately; the Definitive Edition store package already lists the three story DLCs as included.

When troubleshooting achievements tied to an expansion, use the current October 2026 build. The official update changed achievement tracking, so downgrade-first advice from older community posts is no longer the safe starting point.
