Mafia III has only five Repent magazines, making this the smallest of the six base-game collectible sets. One is in Downtown, one in Frisco Fields, two are in the French Ward, and one is in Southdowns. Several sit in or near story-related locations, so a late-campaign sweep is easier than trying to force every entrance early.
Track the issue dates in Collections. With just five entries, a date-and-landmark list can identify the exact missing magazine immediately.
The five-location checklist
Downtown — June 11, 1968
Check the sidewalk bench used for a Donovan conversation during Compromised Corruption. The magazine can be associated with that story scene.
Frisco Fields — January 10, 1968
Search the second-floor office desk in Bellaire Grocery Store, a location involved with Moreau's Southern Union activity.
French Ward — March 10, 1968
Look at the cemetery's central mausoleum area, on the edge of a low surrounding wall.
French Ward — July 12, 1967
Enter the motel, reach the second floor, and inspect a room down the hall from the game room.
Southdowns — November 9, 1967
Search the main bar area of Willcocks Sports and Cocktails, where the issue rests on the counter.
These landmarks come from independent same-game location guides. Use the wiretapped map icon to confirm the precise position on your save and avoid treating a written direction as a substitute for current access.
Start with the open public landmarks
The French Ward cemetery is the simplest visual search because the mausoleum and short wall are recognizable outdoors. Sweep that location when the district is calm, then approach the motel with the expectation that the pickup is upstairs rather than on the street plane.
In Southdowns, enter Willcocks and inspect the bar counter. If the venue is occupied by an active mission or enemies, finish that objective first and return after the autosave. A magazine on a busy counter is easy to overlook among bottles and interaction prompts.
Wiretap each sector before the visit. With only five targets, there is little value in searching a whole district without the icon; collect three fuses, reveal the area, and make the trip once.
Respect story-linked access
The Downtown issue is connected to a bench used during Compromised Corruption. Depending on campaign timing, the scene or Donovan’s interaction makes the location clearer. If the bench does not offer the item during free roam, advance the mission and recheck Collections after its cutscene.
The Frisco Fields issue is inside Bellaire Grocery Store, a site involved in the Southern Union sequence. Reach the second-floor office and inspect the desk. A locked entrance before the related activity is a progression signal, not proof that the collectible has disappeared.
Make a manual save before starting these story steps. If the pickup occurs through a scene or immediately around scripted action, you can verify the gallery afterward without replaying an entire district.
Use dates to confirm progress
After each magazine, open the Repent collection and write down the date. A clean route should produce five distinct entries: July 12, 1967; November 9, 1967; January 10, 1968; March 10, 1968; and June 11, 1968.
If the physical object vanishes but the date does not appear, leave the location, wait for a save, and reload. Return before collecting anything else. The smaller the gap between pickup and verification, the easier it is to isolate the failed state.
Do not mark a district complete from the absence of an icon alone. The icon may be hidden by a filter, the sector may not be tapped, or the issue may already have been collected on an older session.
Recover the last missing issue
Match the empty date to the landmark above. Turn off Playboy and Hot Rod filters, zoom to the relevant building, and inspect the correct floor or exterior wall. The two French Ward entries are particularly easy to collapse into one memory, so verify both the cemetery and motel separately.
For the Downtown bench, check the story state. For Bellaire Grocery Store, confirm the upper office is accessible after the Southern Union mission sequence. For Willcocks, clear combat and walk behind the bar if necessary to trigger the prompt.
If the expected item remains absent, verify Steam files and load a backup from before entering the district. Do not import a stranger’s completion save for a five-item set; that can overwrite campaign choices and underboss state.
Completion and value
The Repent set fills a distinctive period publication gallery and contributes to broader exploration, but it has no dedicated Steam achievement. It is optional for an achievement-only route.
Its compact size makes it an easy collection to finish while completing the relevant districts. Four districts and five stops add little travel once the interiors are open. Save the story-sensitive pair until their missions have been handled, then close the set in one short session.
The magazines belong to the Mafia III base-game map, not to Sign of the Times despite the religious visual overlap. No story DLC is required to collect all five.
